BE A PRO U18 ELITE SUMMER program

U18 is the stage where training must shift from something you simply “fit in” to something you treat like a full-time commitment if you want to reach junior, college, or pro hockey. The game gets faster, the physical demands rise, and the players who advance are the ones who prepare with purpose every day. That’s why our invite only U18 elite program mirrors the structure and standards of our Jr-Pro group—integrating strength, conditioning, skill work, and mindset training in a professional-style environment.

Running from June 15th to August 21st, this 10-week program delivers a structured and consistent schedule designed to move players forward every single week. Athletes will complete five off-ice sessions, including three gym workouts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, plus two field-based speed and conditioning sessions. On the ice, players will skate with their U18 group every Monday and Wednesday at the Canmore Rec Centre, creating a balanced rhythm of strength, speed, and skill development.

A major addition to this program is the opportunity for U18 players to train alongside our Jr-Pro group. Every athlete will spend a minimum of three sessions—both in the gym and on the ice—with the older group, with the chance to earn even more based on effort and readiness. Training with faster, stronger, more experienced players accelerates growth and raises personal standards, and the competitive drive to earn these opportunities elevates the pace and quality of every session.

This program offers

ON-ICE TRAINING • OFF-ICE TRAINING • MINDSET COACHING

on-ice development

Our U18 program focuses on quality, enjoyment, and development by building skills in isolation before translating them into game-like situations. Players first refine mechanics, timing, and execution, then apply those skills under pressure through high-tempo, competitive drills that demand quick decisions and urgency.

On the ice, we push pace, competitiveness, and positional detail while reinforcing the habits required at higher levels. Ryan shares insight on mindset shifts and the tendencies elite players rely on when the game speeds up. With forward- and defence-specific drills, athletes learn to play to their strengths, think the game faster, and make adjustments that elevate performance at the U18 level and beyond.

off-ice development

Our U18 program is built to progress strength, speed, and conditioning while refining movement patterns. A big focus will be will be on teaching and reinforcing recovery and nutrition habits that support long-term performance. Gym sessions at the Canmore Rec Center focus on building strength and power, while field sessions emphasize speed, conditioning, mobility, and hockey-specific durability.

Training targets key areas like the hips, groins, shoulders, and neck to keep players strong and resilient. Athletes will learn to track training, body weight, and nutrition through the Trainerize app. What doesn’t get tracked, is harder to improve. The goal is simple: train harder, recover better, and show up to the season stronger, faster, and more prepared.

mindset development

Co-founders Noah and Sam firmly believe that a player’s mindset is their most valuable asset. The hockey journey is full of challenges—whether it’s choosing the right team, handling personal setbacks, dealing with being a healthy scratch, or facing the many uncertainties that come with the game. Our goal is to ensure players are mentally prepared to tackle these obstacles head-on.

We provide practical, actionable strategies that help players focus on what truly matters. Too often, players are consumed by worry—fear of making mistakes, concern over slow progress, or anxiety about whether a coach approves of them. Our approach shifts this mindset, guiding players to focus on the present moment. By fostering gratitude, presence, and a task-oriented mentality instead of a goal-obsessed one, athletes can unlock new levels of success both on and off the ice.

Learning to embrace the present moment allows players to put in the necessary work, find their flow, and play without tension. This mindset not only elevates their performance but also helps them enjoy the process, unlocking their full potential as both hockey players and individuals.

  • You’ll receive off-ice training plans through the Trainerize app to complete on your own. This ensures you’re ready to start the program at full intensity.

  • No need! Jerseys and socks are provided. Bring your own workout gear, though we’re exploring partnerships to potentially supply this as well.

  • The program is tailored for competitive players—high end U18, junior, collegiate, or pro—who are serious about taking their game to the next level.

  • Yes, recovery is built into the program. You’ll have access to physiotherapists and personalized prehab plans to keep you in peak condition.

  • We use comprehensive fitness testing and track performance metrics like weights lifted and body composition to monitor your development.

  • The only additional cost will be if you opt to purchase off ice training apparel. Other than that their are no hidden costs.

  • Of course! Coaches are always available for feedback, advice, and support to maximize your experience.

  • We do offer an on-ice-only option; however, the pricing per session is higher. This is because we strongly encourage all players to fully commit to the complete program. Players who immerse themselves in both the on-ice training and off-ice workouts experience significantly greater physical and mental benefits, making the program far more impactful overall.

  • This is the biggest thing we wanted to improve upon from last summer. This summer training times are the same all summer. This makes it far easier for athletes to get into a routine and plan work and social schedules around the program. The only difference week to week will be the occasional day off for bank holidays.
